As the Head of Strategic Analytics at Absa Group, he is focused on delivering AI-powered and data-driven solutions that power organizational strategic value and combat financial crime. With a doctorate in Data Science and AI from the University of the Witwatersrand and an interdisciplinary Master’s degree from the University of Cape Town, Dr. Mathonsi brings a rare blend of academic depth and industry pragmatism. He previously served in a range of cutting-edge roles— including at the Climate Research Lab at IBM Africa, after which he led the data function at the fintech giant Ozow.
