Background

Luntente’s banking experience spans across Retail and Business banking in emerging markets. Prior to joining Barclays/Absa, Luntente was responsible for leading business development at Bankserv Africa. Seasoned experience in payments across east Africa’s automated clearing houses (ACH), central banks, banking associations and national payment switches. Primarily responsible for implementing the pan Africa payments strategy and representing BankservAfrica at industry conferences (SWIFT payments).

In 2015, Luntente was appointed Chief of Staff and Head of Strategy, Analytics and Data RBB at Absa. Luntente successfully completed the first segmentation program for business banking across eight markets and compiled and implemented key recommendations to address gaps. Luntente has formed part of the executive leadership teams in the commercialisation and execution of long term Analytics and Data migration and tactical plans for Business Banking.

In 2016, Luntente was nominated one of the Top 200 young South Africans by Mail & Guardian and is a member of the Institute of Bankers (IoB).

Luntente holds a BCom (double major) in Management and Economics from Monash University. A Postgraduate Degree in Banking and Investments (Risk Management) and completed an MBA at WITS Business school.
